UCR researchers have been pioneers in biological control and integrated pest management (IPM) of insects.

The Library’s entomology collection features resources supporting research and teaching about insect behavior; insect ecology; insect morphology; insect pathology; insect physiology; insect-plant interactions; insect systematics; insect genomics; insect toxicology; insecticide resistance; insecticide toxicology; insect pest management; biological control; arthropod vectors of plant pathogens; molecular entomology; insect neuroscience; biological chemistry of insect systems and behavior; and, insect semiochemicals, pheromones, and kairomones.

Additional areas of collection focus include insect neuropharmacology; insect population studies and community ecology; pests of citrus, avocado and other subtropical crops; genetic engineering of insects and related pathogens; medical/veterinary entomology; urban entomology; honey bees; ticks; ants; and mosquitos.
